TRUE PIEASURES ife of PLEASURES What are the true pleasures of Life..? Are they all the luxuries you ever dreamt of, working your gutt out for your vacation and finaly getting it, your yearning for music, fitness, endless shopping, helping someone in need or just a meal with your family and a good night's sleep, or all of these..? Yes..? Find here some interesting info...and some fun facts. a TRUE PLEASURES OF LIFE KA CAN BE SUMMARISED IN 8 BASIC CATEGORIES WORK TRAVEL FOOD FAMILY & FRIENDS SHOPPING HELPING HAND FUN WELL BEING Our daily life is spent between these 8 major activities, from work to leisure, care to sleep, food to family and back again. Here a graphic shows an average time of an individual's work day, living with family. Major part of the day goes in working and sleeping, but others are just as important for a healthy and happy HOUSEHOLD SLEEP EATING CARING OTHER LEISURE life. More detailed information about each WORK category illustrated below: HOW 24 HOURS ARE SPENT WORK To go to work, daily, is probably one of the best things we do. However we dislike it, shitty Mondays, bloody weekdays, here comes the weekend, I love Fridays, etc. But, we are only able to enjoy that Friday beer and a family weekend, only if we work our gut-out on the weekdays. Being able to get a job, work to the best of our capabilities, be appreciated and sometimes rewarded for it is one of the best forms of satisfactions we get. Above that, being able to work on what we truly love to do, makes the job or čareer your passion, fills you with enthusiasm to make things happen and makes you content by giving life a better meaning. Here are some facts about Work, from around the world: LIFETIME WORK HOURS 150,000 100,000 50,000 1856 1931 1981 This graphic shows the reducing number of total lifetime hours by a considerable amount. This is pre-dominantly due to the industrial revolution, inventions in both technology and medical science and opening up of the global markets, enabling us to work smarter and better in lesser time. Some more facts by WHO - Most of the world's population (58%) spend one-third of their adult life at work contributing actively to the development and well-being of them-selves, their families and of society. The officially registered working popula- tion constitutes 60-70% of the adult male and 30-60% of the adult female popula- tion of the world. When work at home and informal work are taken into consider- ation the percent-age is even higher. Morals To be able to work and be capable enough to work to the best of our abilities is the least we can do, to enhance both our lifestyle and support our family and community. Getting up daily and having to work, this routine can be frustrating to most of us. But what we often take for granted is that this activity itself pays for all our necessities and luxuries. Most of us have a job, but a few have a career. The difference is what we 'have' to do and what we ʻlove' to do. If you love what you do, you don't have to work anymore. The joy of creating something new, doing something different, making things better and life easier is what should wake us up from the bed. - The inequality in opportunities, distribution of resources and discrimination around the world causes huge differences in the type of work we get, effort we put into and the re- sults we get. A person can earn a millon with a click and another barely a meal a day. Being compassionate and humanely considerate towards others is the least we can do. Once we realise all our pleasures result from work, Work is then a True Pleasure of Life. FOOD O1 SSS Food plays a vital role in a person's health, both physical nourishment and mental development. Consumed in adequate quantity, good quality and on time is very im- portant. Having a meal a day atleast with family not only enables a person to have a healthy diet but also enhances the family bonding, social responsibility and a vi- brant community. Keeping a proper balanced diet is probably one of the most important tasks of a person's schedule. Excess of it harms the person as does lack of it. The world today is dealing with malnourishment and hunger related.disorders and even deaths as also illnesses related to obesity. Here are some hard facts from around the world: Food consumption in calories daily Over 3000 2500 - 3000 2000 - 2500 Food consumption around the World Less than 2000 % of population undernourished 35% 20 - 34% 5 - 19% 2.5 - 4% <2.5% Undernourishment around the World no data Under-nourishment - Malnutrition One in eight people do not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide - greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. 870 million (1 in 8) people in the world do not have enough to eat. This number has fallen by 130 million since 1990, but progress slowed after 2008. Undernutrition contributes to 2.6 million deaths of children under five each year - one third of the global total. That is 6 in 100 that die, 2 are due to lack of nutrition. One out of six children, roughly 100 million in developing countries is underweight. If women farmers had the same access to resources as men, the number of hungry in the world could be reduced by up to 150 million. Over-nourishment - Obesity Worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980. 35% of adults aged 20 and over were overweight in 2008, and 11% were obese. 65% of the world's population lives in countries where overweight and obesity kills more people than underweight. Once as- sociated with high-income countries, obesity is now also prevalent in low and middle- income countries. In 2008, more than 1.4 billion adults, 20 and older, were overweight (3 in 10). Of these over 200 million men and nearly 300 million women were obese. (1 in 10). More than 40 million children under the age of five were overweight in 2011 (1 in 15). EEEE Obesity has reached epidemic proportions globally, with at least 2.8 million (1 in 20) people dying each year as a result of being overweight or obese. Morals Find out what's good nourishment for your health, depending on your lifestyle, climate and obviously your capability to afford it. Follow your diet well to keep healthy and you will cherish every moment of your life. Appreciate what you have and what you get, as getting a meal a day is also a struggle for people around you. Consume what you should, not what you can. Save for those who can't afford it, as there's no better and fulfilling charity than donating for food, the basis of survival. It doesn't matter how much you can eat, but how much you can digest. Food then is, the True Pleasure of life.
