THE SOCIAL DATING Smörgåsbord Cupid has been online a lot lately, and he has profiles on more than just online dating sites.. DID YOU KNOW? Many of us use online dating site apps, but more frequently, social media sites are serving the same purpose. You'd think that online dating sites would report declining numbers, but they are running as strongly as ever. The Aorld has realized that online dating works better when you create a more organic relationship. And besides... What's more organic than being friends before you date? The more time you spend online, the more likely you are to start talking to new people. Everything you post jumps out into the wild, blue younder of the Internet, where a computer-savwy potential beau (or belle) can see it. Every time you update a status or comment on a picture, you build onto your online persona. BUT If you want to have the best chances of finding a date online, your online presence needs to accurately represent you. Ready to use all kinds of social media to find love? Try these 3 strategies PRETEND YOU'RE A PASTOR DATE YOURSELF SURF CONSCIOUSLY If you're not sure whether the things your online trail leave behind are good or not, look at them with a fresh set of eyes. Pretend you don't know any of the reasons behind your posts, updates, and pictures. Then ask yourself - based on that simple reputation, would you want to date yourself? If you saw your pastor posting what you do, would you be shocked? As a Christian, many people view you like a pastor, and every time you "like" something off-color, it reflects not only on you, but other Christians in the dating world. Imagine Jesus watching you post. Is he facepalming or grinning? Aim for the grin (and maybe a thumbs up) and you know you're on the right track. Updates to any site are practically immortal. Post and "like" things that encourage respect and admiration, and you might discover more dates coming your way because of it. When you're dating online, people look you up constantly, and if they don't like what they see, they go browse somewhere else. WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY? A good reputation – not necessarily a perfect one is exactly what God wants to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 might be a pretty hefty chunk of verses, but it lays down a great guideliné for what kind of person should be in leadership at church. The expectations apply to anyone who wants to be treated with respect - and noticed in the world of online dating. Live wisely and exercise self control like in 1 Timothy, and you'll have nothing to worry about. Someone is always reading what you post. There are those who say they don't care what other peoplé think, but don't be tricked into acting arrogant. Live like 2 Corinthians 6:3 suggests, in a way that nothing you do will cause others to stumble or doubt you.
