Male vs Female hydration

HYDRATION MEN VS WOMEN Healthy hydration is essential for both men & women, but the way in which the genders stay hydrated differs The female why? she loses reproductive system & monthly cycles alter the balance of around 8% of plasma - the watery part of the blood hormones When a female's estrogen & progesterone levels are high, Also, the high Sodium levels are also key as they help transport water into the blood. progesterone causes a resting rise in core body temperature Progesterone levels make this harder as it fights for the same receptors and the hormone responsible for excreting sodium (aldosterone) which increases the amount of sodium your body kicks out. this can shorten the time time it takes to reach fatigue & lower heat tolerance The estrogen and progesterone levels can be as much as 6-8 times higher in women using forms of hormonal birth control such as the pill. This should be taken into consideration particularly during exercise. The NHS recommends that women drink at least 1.6 litres of water per day, in comparison to men who need to drink at least 2 litres 2 lts 1.6 lts This is a very vague guide as amounts can vary due to body weight, height and exercise Top Tip Try to drink at least half your body weight in water each day! A good tip for doing this is to divide your body weight in half, then divide that mumber by 8 and that will give you a rough minimum mumber of glasses of water that you should aim to drink per day!
