The Great American Time Use Survey

THE GREAT AMERICAN TIME USE SURVEY The U.S. Bureau of Labour has just released a study of how the American people used their time in 2014. We picked out a few facts for you: MORE PEOPLE WORK FROM HOME 23% of people did all or most of their work at home. Education matters: Only 12% of people without a high school diploma could work from home, compared to 39% of people with at least a Bachelor's degree 19 Diploma 3 6. CLOSING THE GENDER GAP? 83% of women did household stuff on an average day Compared to just 65% of men BUT MEN ARE STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE! 43% of men did food preparation and clean-up on an average day - this is up from 35% in 2003! But generally, they're still slightly more into the landscaping arts TIME OUT TELEVISION RULES THE NATION! The average American watched 2.8 hours of TV per day. That's more than half of all leisure time. Interestingly, socializing was next on the list (and not computer games). Well, except for the 15-19 range. BY THE WAY: Life gets busy when you're 35-44 - the average daily leisure time drops to 4.1 hours. But the future looks great - 75+ crowds enjoy an average of 8.0 hours of leisure time.
