FACT OR FICTION? Children benefit more from living with their mothers because mothers have more impact on their well-being than fathers do. A dad contributes as much to his child's well- being as his mother does, even if their style of parenting differs. Shared residential custody fails for most fami- lies, thus creating unnecessary instability for children. Shared residential custody has been stable and successful for most parents. Most single fathers are not interested in having their children live with them. Most dads want more time living together with their children. Most children are satisfied with the amount of time they spend with their fathers. The vast majority of kids want more time living with their dads after their parents separate. Shared parenting is harmful for infants or young children because they should not be separated overnight from their father Preschoolers shouldn't be separated from either parent for more than a few days and can spend nights in both homes.
