(Er, thanks Liebeck, who knew!?) However, McDonalds had in fact received multiple complaints regarding the heat of their coffees, with them being served at temperatures as high as 180 degrees. Liebeck was awarded 2.7 million dollars for the 1994 burns she incurred, requiring 800 dollar's worth of skin grafts. 2005 Mr. Austin Aitken tried to sue American TV Company NBC for a figure of $2.5 million following the airing of the hit show "Fear Factor". He claimed that when he watched contestants on the show eating rats in the competition for a 50,000 dollar prize, he felt nauseas and dizzy and ran into a doorframe concussing himself whilst trying to get away from the television.
