Youth Unemployment in Egypt

YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT A priority for Egypt Unemployment levels, which have been historically high in Egypt, have increased noticeably since the January 2011 Revolution. With our support, 442,000 job opportunities (workdays) for youth have been created from march 2012 to september 2013. Targeting 6 of the poorest governorates Not just jobs SKILLS THAT WORK. The project also builds the skills that young people need for current and future jobs. SHARQYA FAYOUM MENYA ECONOMIC GROWTH. The construction of rural SOHAG QENA infrastructure has a positive impact on local economy. LUXOR WELFARE. The whole community benefits from social workers' services and infrastructures. VOUTPUT Creating jobs in social services 341,000 workdays 62% for young women Maternal and child health initiatives Literacy training for women and assistance for mothers on children health. Environmental cleanliness campaigns In addition to removing accumulated garbage in villages, a colleting garbage system was implemented to sustain a long-term impact. Creating jobs in public works OUTPUT 101,000 workdays Canal covering 1,65 km The coverage protects canals from garbage, improving water quality and people's health. Extension of 196 km potable water networks Providing people with access to drinking water at home has a positive impact on sanitation and health. Pitched docking platform The construction of docking platforms allows local companies and entrepreneurs to have a better access to markets.
