A dowry death occurs in India* A case of cruelty is committed by a husband or his EVERY MINUTES... relative against a married woman in India. 1 in 3 WOMEN crime against women is committed by husband or his relatives SUFFERS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN INDIA amongst the 4 th top 5 most dangerous INDIA RANKS countries in the 23 world for women. Want of psycho-social support. • Social Stigma. DIFFICULTIES FACED BY WOMEN SURVIVORS • No Income. • Lack of Awareness about Legal rights and remedies. • Inadequate and insensitive government machinery. Promoting community level groups for supporting survivors of domestic violence by sensitizing community on the issue and enhancing their awareness level. HOW WE ARE CONTRIBUTING ? • Motivational Programmes (confidence, self esteem) for Survivor and her family. Advocacy at the state and national level for effective implementation of Domestic Violence Act Legal counseling, legal aid and building their correct perspective on Domestic violence. • Sensitization and training programs on gender and Domestic Violence Act for govt. lawyers, judges, police, protection officers and NGO service providers. IMPACT 12511 Women benefited through our Gender Equality Projects. 350 Service providers including lawyers, judges, health workers and protection officers and 15 Community based Organizations have been sensitized on the issue.
