Africa alone loses 40 billion hours per year collecting ILLNESS FROM DRINKING water DIRTY WATER AND THE TIME 40 lb. LOST FETCHING IT ROBS ENTIRE COMMUNITIES OF THEIR FUTURES full container used for water collection in Africa, weighs over 40 pounds The WHO has shown problem in economic terms: the equivalent of a 5-year old child for every $1 invested in water and sanitation, some women carry up to 70 pounds in a barrel carried on the back C$DC$DO$D That's like carrying a baby hippo. there is an economic return of between $3 and $34! WHY WATER MATTERS HEALTH HUNGER Safe water, clean hands, healthy bodies. Time lost to sickness is reduced and Access to water leads to food security. With less crop loss, hunger is reduced. Schools can feed students with people can get back to the work of lifting themseles out of poverty. gardens, reducing costs.
