DIY Projects Using Fold Over Elastic

DIY Projects Using Fold Over Elastic Fold over elastic is simply a strip of elastic that's got a sewn in fold line. Imagine bias tape, but with stretch! What?! I KNOW! It comes in many colors and patterns as well as a variety of widths, but can be hard to find locally...until now. Here's some project ideas to get your creative wheels turning..and stretching! Clothing Lingerie | Make yourself some custom panties. Add the elastic to delicate silks for stretchy spaghetti strap camisoles. Comfy, cute, cotton PJs should be on everyone's to-make list. Hems | Finish sleeves and collars of your baby clothes for a comfortable yet close fit. Waistbands | Forget about making casings for your elastic waistbands, FOE is so beautiful by itself you can just sew it right on. It'll add function and a pop of color. Knit Necklines | No more curls! Give a clean profesh finish to your new knit projects. lovel Diaper Covers | 'nuff said. Accessories Headbands | For baby, too! No crimp hair ties | You may have seen them for sale for as much as $4 each (what?!), but now you can make your own. Miscellaneous |I Spy Bag or Pin cushion, Dog Toys, Dance/Gymnastics costumes, Elastic Shoelaces. The list could go on and on. Here are some helpful tips Use a zig-zag stitch with 2.0 length and 5.0 width. Sew close to the open edge of the FOE, so it won't curl. Pull the elastic s lightly as you sew it to hems... But, sew it 1:1 like bias tape to just finish raw edges of knits (camisoles, tee-shirts, etc) Ribbon Retreat ribbon, fabric & more www.theribbonretreat.com
