DIY mittens HEATED RICE PACK WHAT YOU'LL NEED: pins scissors 1/2 yard fleece .25 inch elastic (about 8-12 inches) uncooked rice thread funnel PATTERN: top thumb botton thumb mitten top Sew top and bottom thumb pieces together. Add elastic to the exterior pieces only. Cut two 3" x 3.5" rectangles and two 1" x 3.5" for the flap pocket. Sew three sides of the 3" x 3.5" rectangles to the mitten top. 50 Sew three sides of the 1" x 3.5" overlapping the pocket just a touch for a tight and secure flap. Sew the front and back together. Cut four 2" x 2.5" fleece rectangles for the rice pack. Sew two rectangles together on 3 sides. Sew two divider lines to evenly distribute the rice. 10 Using a funnel, fill each pouch. Once filled, sew and close the reminaing opening. 12 Stuff the rice pack into the mitten pocket and microwave on high for 30 sec. about 30-60 seconds. Optional: Heat the rice pack next to a cup of water in the microwave to add moisture during the heating process. Note: Heat time will vary depending on size.
