HOW TO COMPOST 1 Decide on the location - an open pile or a bin are options to choose from. Ideal size: 3'x3'x3' (1 cubic yard). 2 Use your Cyclone Rake to collect and mulch your leaves in the fall and your grass clippings in the spring & summer. Shredded leaves take up 2/3 less space and compose faster than leaves left whole. 3 Fill the space with leaves and any other compostable materials you choose. 4 Mix them thoroughly to activate the materials. 5 Turn the pile bi-weekly using a pitchfork and keep the compost moist. 6.
