How to Measure and Fit Blinds in Your Home... Measuring advice for fitting window blinds Considerations Always measure the window in three different places for width/drop. (See A & B) we recommend measuring in three places the drop left middle and right, width top middle and bottom note the smallest measurement. B When deciding where to place the blind within or outside the recess take your window handles into consideration (C) as this may effect the operation of the blind. Ensure there are no obstacles around your window or within the recess that may prevent your blind from functioning correctly within your selected position such as telephone sockets decorative rails, decorative window frames and skirting. Make allowances for the obstruction within your measurements ie:make the blind narrower to suit the restricted width, or locate the blind in A position that would miss items like phone sockets when operating the blind. If this is not possible then you need to consider mounting the blind outside the recess. Insure you make the blind wide enough to obtain a good fixing position, not to close to the outside edge of your window returns but intern will miss any obstructions you may have. When installing blinds adjacent to one another provide at least a 1cm gap between each blind to make sure that each blind can be operated separately. You Will Need... For this job you will need a metal ruler, a tape measure and a means of note making. measure to within + 1- 2mm Inside or Outside Mount You will need to decide wether you want the blind mounted on the inside or the outside of the window frame. An inside mount will offer a cleaner and more tailored flush look to the window were as a outside mount may give the appearence of a larger windoW.
