The rose is the official flower for Father's Day. Wearing a red rose signifies a living father, while a white one represents deceased father. Father's day was originally met with laughter. It was the target of much satire with a local newspaper complaining that it would lead to mindless promotions like 'National Clean Your Desk Day. During World War II, Father's Day became very popular as it was used to honor the troops fighting the war. The world's oldest father, Ramjeet Raghav, an Indian farmer, was able to father a child at 96 years old. Father's Day was invented by Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, who wanted to honour her father, a veteran who had raised his six children as a single parent. In 1998, British boy Sean Stewart, became youngest father in the world at 12. In Thailand, Father's Day is celebrated on the king's birthday.
