THE ANATOMY OF TMD Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder (TMD) is a condition that occurs as a result of dysfunction in the jaw joint and the muscles that control jaw movement. In other words, a misaligned or bad bite, what dentists call "malocclusion."
