The Stages and Changes of the Menopause. The menopause is a natural part of the ageing process occurs in all women. It is caused by changes in the balance of the body's sex hormones. The menopause can be divided into three stages; perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. that Perimenopause Perimenopause is a transition period before the menopause, when a woman's ovaries begin to produce less oestrogen.
