Processed Produce; The Health Concerns of Unhealthy Eating

PROCESSED PRODUCE: THE HEALTH CONCERNS OF UNHEALTHY EATING SHEFFA http://www.sheffafoods.com Mmm...., the inf amous McDonalds Big Mac. Sure, you cant pronounce half the additives in it, but who cares? That artery-clogging, greasy mountain of beef tastes so good, all health conscientiousness is 90% IN USA dissipated in one chew. Does this guilty food scenario ring a bell? Nearly 90% of money spent on food is used to buy processed items. Any food item that has been put through devitalizing chemical So what exactly constitutes the term, processes to sustain a longer "processed?" shelf-life. Processed foods are infused with any of the following treatments: • Canning • Freezing • Preservation • Coloring • Sweetening • Dehydration • Flavoring • Refining • Bleaching and emulsifier/stabilizer additives. Processed foods are normal items have been altered from their natural state for safety and storage conveniences. This "respect" to health is mind-boggling when considering the slew of ailments, elicited by the preservation processes. Let's take a look at just three of the countless hazards posed by processed food item intake. Top Three Alarming Effects of Processed Foods 1. OBESITY Americans? Obese? Doesn't sound familiar! Sarcasm aside, the fact remains that the United States ranks as number one in the world for maintaining the highest obesity figures. In 1990, not one U.S. state had an obesity rate greater than 14%, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). 14% Obese 20%-24% Obese Additionally, the year 2010 chronicled 36 states sustaining an obesity level of at least 25%. Of these states, 12 reported an 1990 2010 obesity rate that exceeded 30% and above. Yikes. The reason behind this wave of obesity stems from the heavily-processed foods that contain higher volumes of saturated fat, sugar and salt. Additionally, these foods are nutrient-deficient and minimal in fiber; substituting nourishment with water retention and inevitable weight gain. To make matters worse, "drive-thru" options and fitness negligence promotes a more sedentary lifestyle. This consumer-driven convenience diminishes health incentives with replacement of heart disease. Speaking of which.... 2. HEART DISEASE Have a heart, and treat your body right by eliminating processed foods. Those cheap and cheerful meal options contain an abundance of trans fatty acids (TFA), which is the dangerous fat to be avoided at all costs. TFA's promote a deadly cholesterol called LDL, while eradicating the good cholesterol levels known as HDL. The typical American, age 2 and older, maintains a sodium intake of about 3,400 milligrams per day. In the same breath, the U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend sodium intake to less than 2,300 milligrams a day. For ages 51 and above - in addition to anyone with diabetes, chronic kidney disease AND high blood pressure - 1,500 sodium milligrams are recommended. Studies show that middle-aged American men who consume salt-ridden foods face as much risk of heart attacks as the average chain smoker. This is due to high sodium intake which may complicate adequate blood flow in the heart, resulting in angina and multiple heart disturbances. 30% A surprising Harvard poll demonstrated how the risk of heart disease could decrease by 30%. simply by abstaining from high-carbohydrate food intake. 3. CANCER In 2008 alone, an estimated 12.7 million new cases of cancer were diagnosed worldwide, and it is hard to ignore the link between processed foods and this deadly disease. Many synthetic food items carry carcinogenic NaNOa properties as a result of the frequently-utilized, "sodium nitrate."Sodium nitrite is a chemical that is employed to change the color of the meats; substituting an impression of freshness, even to tainted byproducts. Sodium nitrate is responsible for forming a carcinogen called"nitrosamines" in the human body. According to a seven-year study conducted by the University of Hawaii, nearly 200,000 people who consumed processed meats had a 67% higher risk of pancreatic cancer than vegetarians. Upon publication of the study, worldwide scientists and dieticians concluded that processed meats posed a huge danger to human consumption, and should be avoided at all costs in order to preventa likelihood of cancer development in the future. These facts are not intended to frighten consumers, but rather shed light upon the alarming health concerns posed by processed foods. There are numerous, unprocessed food alternatives that can substitute any number of synthetic repasts. Consider employing nutritional meal plans that not only replenish your health, but also sustains your general well-being.
