For example, increased access to HIV services at antenatal clinics appears to have a significant impact on child mortality rates and maternal health. (outputs) Effects of Linkages (outcomes) Stronger Health Systems Human Resources: Well trained, fair & effective health workforce SRH ill-health and HIV affect some of the world's least powerful communities and share root causes including poverty, gender inequality and social marginalization of the most vulnerable populations. Individuals at risk of SRH ill-health are also most vulnerable to HIV, and human rights are key to achieving better global health. Health Information Systems: Good data for monitoring, evaluating & improving healthcare Logistics & Supplies: Availability of medicines & supplies that are good quality and cost-effective Health Financing: Funding services in a sustainable, affordable way towards linking SRH and HIV. MEASURING PROGRESS Growing evidence supports rationale for SRH and HIV linkages. Research shows that integrating health services can be more efficient, reduce stigma and increase access to healthcare. However, until recently there has been no consolidated guidance on measuring progress In 2012, national and international experts-including government, donor, UN and civil society representative- developed a comprehensive set of indicators that measure SRH and HIV linkages at the output, outcome and impact levels.
