Different food groups and their importance

A BALANCED DIET Meat, poultry and fish are a good source of protein, nutrients and vitamins. Fruits contain high levels of fiber and important vitamins such as vitamin C. Vegetables are rich in Healthy food nutrients and fiber. They are low in fat and do not contain cholesterol. Dairy products are rich in calcium and iron which strengthens bones. Bread and other whole grain products are rich in dietery fiber and minerals. Chocolates and icecreams consumed in small quantities add balance to the diet and provide carbohydrates.
