THANKSGIVING IDEAS 2011 Alternatives to the Traditional Turkey DEEP FRIED TURDUCKEN TOFURKY TIPS AND SAFETY (TURkeyDUCKchickEN) TIPS (VEGAN TURKEY) TIPS Each layer of meat is separated by A LAYER OF STUFFING. Use an electric mixer, ricer or hand-masher to mash the potatoes until they are smooth and lump-free. Mix only as long as needed; overworked potatoes can become starchy and sticky. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine green beans, cream of mushroom soup and ½ cup cheddar cheese and transfer to a casserole dish. Sprinkle French fried onions and remaining cheese evenly over top. Bake 20 min, or until cheese is melted and browned. GRAVY 3 tablespoons turkey drippings 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2½ cups turkey stock ¼ cup cooked giblets from turkey ½ tablespoon chopped sage ½ teaspoon ground black pepper Salt to taste Over medium heat gradually add flour to pan drippings and stir until smooth. Stir in turkey stock and giblets and stir until evenly combined. Add sage, pepper and salt and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10-12 min. or until gravy is thickened.
