Summer Fun at Elite Research

Summer Fun Summer officially begins on June 21, 2013 with the Summer Solstice. Summer Solstice The summer solstice marks the beginning of summer for the Northern Hemisphere. The Earth's Tilt is what causes the season. The tilt is at 23.5 degrees. The summer occurs due to more direct rays in that specific hemisphere. Solstice comes from two Latin words: sol (sun) and sistere (still). Fun Facts Mosquitoes have been around for 30 million years. The Eiffel Tower can grow by more than SIX inches in the summer due to the expansion of iron on hot days! Frisbees were invented by accident... they were supposed to be pie plates! Weather or Not On September 13, 1922... the temperature in the Libyan Desert reached 136 degrees Farenheit! 2: In 1816, the US experience snow throughout the entire summer due to a volcanic eruption in Indonesia. Hurricane season begins June 1st and ends on November 30th. If you count a cricket's chirps for 15 seconds and add 37, you will have the approximate temperature! Watermelon Ice Cream Watermelon is actually a vegetable! July is the month where the most ice cream is sold in the US. It's 92% water and is part of the cucumber, squash and pumpkin family. Americans eat an average of 5.5 gallons of ice cream per year. Eat your veggies! ELITE 2013 signifies Elite Research's 10th year in business.
