PHONE RECYCLING ROUND UP APRIL 2013 DATA PROVIDED BY COMPAREMYMOBILE.COM The top brands being traded in this month Apple decreased it's share by 3% over the past month, BlackBerry dropped by 1% and Samsung with the release of the Galaxy S4 late April has seen an increase of 2% overall 2.7%- 6.0%- 7.8% 47.5% 12.5% 01/04/13 19.7% Apple BlackBerry Samsung Nokia | HTC | Sony Ericsson Sony LG Motorola The top categories being traded in this month Phones still remain the top traded category on the site, but with awareness of electronic recycling increasing, so is the trade-in share percentage for other devices. The phone trade-in share has decreased by almost 2% in the last month. 4.27% 0,29%- 8.47% 01/04/13 85.45% Phones iPods iPads Tablet / Kindle Games Consoles Sat Navs MacBook / Mac Laptops Cameras The top depreciating phone brands (90 day period) Motorola and LG continue to hold high depreciation this April, this could be to do with the lack of high end handsets being released and volume of handsets 1+ years old 10.71% 39.55% 11.82% 01/04/13 12.06% 2161% 14.34% - 16.06%- 17.86% Motorola LG Sony Ericsson BlackBerry Nokia Samsung Sony HTC Google | Apple The top depreciating recycling categories (90 day period) This month saw a 4% decrease in the value of all games consoles (usually holding their value). iPads still remain strong as a good gadget investment and mobile phones have only a slight overall depreciation increase of 1.5% 0.01% 7.93%- 16.92% 8.64% 01/04/13 9.64% 14.66% 12.66% L1270% Laptops Phones Tablet/Kindle iPods Games Consoles iPads MacBook / Mac Cameras The top devices being traded in this month Apple still remain strong in the total % of devices being traded in (iPhone 4 16GB leading with 10% total trade ins). Samsung had a small burst last month with the announcement of the S4 but has calmed down, greater volumes expected by 26th April. The iPhone 5 has dropped from the 8th most recycled handset down to 10.
