A LOOK AT СOMMON ARIZONA WEEDS COMMON NAME: CAMPHORWEED COMMON NAME: WITCHGRASS CHARACTERISTICS: • Tall, hairy annual • Strong odor • Single stem with branches at the top • 2-6 feet high • Yellow flowers • Grows in dry or moist soil CHARACTERISTICS: Bushy, hairy annual • 4 inches-3 feet high • Stiff branches • Flowering part is brittle when ripe and will break off, becoming a tumbleweed · Has spread rapidly through Arizona because of the increase in agriculture WHERE IT'S FOUND: • Near areas of irrigation, Toadsides, and places where water collects • Between 100 and 5,500 feet in elevation WHERE IT'S FOUND: • Common in dry soil, washes, gardens, and flower beds • Between 100 and 8,000 feet in elevation BLOOMING SEASON: • March through November, most active during late BLOOMING SEASON: • May through October summer COMMON NAME: HORSEWEED COMMON NAME: LAMBERT CRAZYWEED CHARACTERISTICS: • Upright annual or biennial 3 inches-4 feet high • Numerous greenish-white flower heads • Native to the eastern U.S. Widespread across Arizona CHARACTERISTICS: • Stermless, hairy perennial • Leaves are 3-10 inches long • Flower stalks are 4-16 inches long • Poisonous and has caused deaths of horses, sheep, and cattle • Can cause dermatitis and throat irritation WHERE IT'S FOUND: Moist or sandy soil of roadsides, yards, and gardens • Between 100 and 7,500 feet in elevation WHERE IT'S FOUND: • Sandy plains and slopes • Between 5,000 and 8,000 feet in elevation BLOOMING SEASON: • Jume through September BLOOMING SEASON: • July through October COMMON NAME: BERMUDAGRASS COMMON NAME: LONDON ROCKET CHARACTERISTICS: • Spreading perennial • Leaves are 1-4 inches long • Flowering stalks are 4-18 inches high • Cannot stand freezing temperatures or shade • Can tolerate long periods of drought • Its pollen is one of the most common causes of CHARACTERISTICS: • Bright green fleshy hairless annual • 1-3 feet high • Reproduces only by seeds • Small yellow flowers occur in clusters • Usually
