Farm Biosecurity: Working Together To Protect the Land Preventionand control starts with keeping equipment clean andavoiding cross-contamination. Before leaving a moderate to high-risk field, brush soil from machinery, power wash, and disinfect with 2% bleach solution. Keep track of soil erosion and water movement-disease can be spread by contaminated surface water runoff. Use cover crops and permanent cover on field edges andplant windbreaks; allow grassy waterways to flow. Dispose of plant material from infested fields. Don't leave straw, hay, or silage standing. To control diseases suchas clubroot, spray equipment with 2% bleach solution. Wear boot coversor wash and disinfect boots and tools with 2% bleach solution. Use hand sanitizer. Avoidmuddy soil where possible. Buy seed from a reputable source and inspect carefully before use. Ensure timely seeding of areas where there is ground disturbance. Restrict access. Visitors can also cause soil movement. Don't park vehicleson your fields, if possible.
