***** The ENVIRONMENTALLY Mindfhul COLLEGE Millions of tons of waste flood trash cans on campuses across the nation, and how to properly recycle it has become a serious issue. With advancements in renewable materials, and better awareness nowadays, colleges are presented with an opportunity to REDUCE AND EVEN REUSE THE WASTE they produce. Here is a look at some COLLEGES THAT ARE MOST SUCCESSFUL AT KEEPING THE ENVIRONMENT IN MIND in their everyday actions. REDUCING waste Citizens of the United States currently USE 71 MILLION TONS OF PAPER AND PAPERBOARD EVERY YEAR. STARK STATE COLLEGE --***** Stark State College in That equates to 9,600,000 SHEETS OF PAPER. North Canton, Ohio calculated that they bought 19,200 REAMS OF VIRGIN PAPER IN 2004. SSC found they could SAVE 372 30% POST-CONSUMER content paper, TREES and withhold 10,358 POUNDS OF WASTE FROM LANDFILLS. Just by switching to Stark State has yet to IMPLEMENT RECYCLED PAPER, Reducing students' printing allowance. though they are in the process of: SMALLEST AMOUNT OF PAPER Holding interoffice competitions to see who can use the smallest amount of paper.
