Energy Management – What is it all about?

THE PROCESS OF ENERGY UN DP MANAGEMENT Empowered lives. Resilient nations. Managing energy consumption brings many important benefits, including significant financial savings. Far from being expensive, energy efficiency is actually highly profitable. Continuous monitoring of energy use Energy consumption and costs should be closely and continuously monitored. Such monitoring is necessary to identify the peaks to be avoided and to provide the basis for assessing potential savings. Municipalities must appoint an energy manager to ensure continuous monitoring of energy use. Data collection is essential for the proper planning of energy efficiency measures and must be ensured throughout the energy management process before, during and after the implementation of energy efficiency measures. One of the most effective tools for data collection is the EXCITE software package, already available for municipalities. The energy audit invoſves: an analysis of records of energy consumption and costs a review of the characteristics and conditic of the building(s) a list of eligible energy-saving investment scenarios and ranking of measures by profitability measures Profitability Total investment cost Payback period = Net annual savings Grants Public-private partnerships (from central government and donors) Investment Several financing and implementation mechanisms may be considered: Internal financing (budget capture, revolving of savings, Energy Efficiency Fund) Loans / debt financing (banks, IFIS) Energy Savings Agreements (ESCO / energy service providers) roof insulation solar panels lighting Typical energy savings measures windows facade insulation external doors central heating The monitoring must be continuous in order to track the savings and justify the investment. Verification and Proper use and maintenance of the equipment must be observed. measurement In addition to the EXCITE software, remote-metering devices can be installed to help further streamline the processes of monitoring, verification and measurement.
