TIMELINE OF THE ONE RING BY LOTRPROJECT.COM | EMIL JOHANSSON 7 RING BEARERS 4860 YEARS 1840 YEARS SAURON S.A. 1697 - Eregion is destroyed and Khazad-dum is closed S.A. 1583 - The war of the Elves and Sauron begins S.A. 1599 - The One Ring is forged S.A. 1700 - The forces of Sauron are defeated by the Numenoreans and he retreats to Mordor S.A. 3262 - Sauron allows himself to be taken capture by the Numenoreans leaving the Ring of Barad-dur S.A. 3441 - Sauron is defeated Isildur takes the One Ring 4 October, T.A.2 - Death of Isildur in the battle of Gladden Fields. The One Ring is lost in the River Anduin. c.a. T.A.2463 - Deagol discovers the One Ring and is slain by Smeagol who claims it for his own T.A. 2939 - Saruman discovers Sauron's servants are searching Gladden Fields for the One Ring T.A. 2941 - Bilbo Baggins finds the Ring in Gollum's cave T.A. 2944 - Gollum leaves the Misty Mountains and begins searching for the Ring September 22, T.A. 3001 - Bilbo freely gives up the Ring and it passes to Frodo Baggins THE WAR OF THE RING T.A. 3017 - T.A. 3017 Gandolf finds a scroll written by Isildur describing the One Ring in Minas Tirith. Gollum is captured by Sauron and under torture reveals the names Shire and Baggins. T.A. 3018 23 March, T.A. 3018 - Gandolf questions Gollum about the Ring in Mirkwood 13 April, T.A. 3018 - Gandolf holds the Ring briefly before throwing it into Frodo's fire and thus revealing its inscriptions and confirming its identity 27 September, T.A.3018 - T.A. 3018 - Tom Bombadil wears the Ring but appears unaffected by it. 25 October, T.A. 3018 - The Council of Elrond is held in Rivendell and it is decided that the Ring shall be destroyed. 25 December, T.A. 3018 - The Fellowship of the Ring sets out from Rivendell on their mission to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom. T.A. 3019 February 26, 3019 - Boromir attempts to take the Ring from Frodo by force. He dies shortly thereafter defending Merry and Pippin from Saruman's Orcs. 13 - 14 March, 3019 - Samwise Garngee wears the Ring for about two days while Frodo is held captive by the Orcs in the Tower of Cirith Ungol. 25 March, T.A. 3019 - Sam and Frodo reach the Cracks of Doom in Mordor but Frodo refuses to destroy the Ring and claims it for his himself. Gollum attacks Frodo and takes the Ring but loses his balance and falls into the fires of Mount Doom, thus destroying the Ring.
