The Super Bowl is, well, super popular amongst football fans and advertisers alike. But which brands that advertised during the big game were talked . about the most Twitter? Vancouver 37% 25% 16% Toronto 22% We first checked out brand penetration in Canadian cities, where home-grown BlackBerry made a very strong impression. 18% Budweiser BlackBerry Coke 9% I BlackBerry Mercedes Pepsi New York 14% 13% 11% Next we looked at some cities in the U.S., where Budweiser seemed to Budweiser Pepsi Coke have the upper hand. Chicago 17% 14% Los Angeles 11% 14% 13% 11% Budweiser Pepsi GoDaddy Budweiser Mercedes Pepsi San Francisco Sao Paulo, Brazilı 40% 14% 13% 12% This wasn't far enough for us, though, so we also looked at Brazilian tweets from Sao Paulo. 24% 21% I Coke Pepsi Audi Budweiser BlackBerry Coke - Percentage of Tweets But since it wasn't just North America working itself into a lather over Super Bowl commercials, of course we had to look London, UK 15% 14% t London and Paris: 13% Budweiser Pepsi Çoke Paris, France 24% The Spokesmodel Effect 15% 12% New York 68% 66% 50% 50% 44% Pepsi Mercedes Coke 32% We also looked at the Spokesmodel Effect within Super Bowl advertisements. Budweiser Mercedes GODaddy Budweiser, which (perhaps surprisingly) did not use a spokesmodel, had a relatively even split of male and female tweeters. Los Angeles 75% 65% 53% But Mercedes (which used Kate Upton) and GoDaddy (which used Danica Patrick) did employ spokesmodels, rendering (perhaps unsurprisingly) their tweets more heavily skewed toward the male demographic. 47% 25% 35% Budweiser Godaddy Mercedes - Males - Females *Tweets were collected during the week leading up to the big game, during the Super Bowl itself, and until February 5. © 2013 MedlaMIser Ltd.
