A History of Anonymous and The Guy Fawkes Mask 5 November 1605 The story begins over 400 years ago with Guy Fawkes. A revolutionary who plotted to blow up the House of Lords. FOR VE 1982 The world's most Googled mask, the stylised Guy Fawkes design was created by illustrator David Lloyd for the graphic novel 'V for Vendetta'. It was worn by a lone anarchist who uses Fawkes as a role model in his quest to end the rule of a fictional fascist MOORE AVID LLOYD wBreve Vwin ce Docos party. 2006 The novel's film adaptation further popularises this mask. It includes a scene in which a group of masked protesters march on parliament, all wearing the mask. Also that year, the image is used as part of a popular stickman meme 'Epic Fail Guy'. Referencing Guy Fawkes failed plot. First seen on image bulletin board 4chan.org. The Guy Fawkes mask was first worn by Anonymous during Project Chanology.
