ACT 18 156 ARS LAND-BRAN SERVICE SCIENCE UNVERSITIES 1945 - UF researchers honored for developing electronic bomb fuse that proves vital during World War II. 1976 – UF blueberry breeding program releases three varieties adapted for Florida climate. 1948 – Frozen concentrate orange juice invented at Citrus Research and Education Center. F1976 – College of Veterinary Medicine opens. THROUGH 1952 - UF introduces new strawberry varieties that promote dramatic growth in industry. 1976 – UF begins tropical foliage breeding program and Florida now leads the nation in production. 1998 – McKnight Brain Institute opens. 1954 - Solar Energy and Energy Conversion Laboratory 1986 - Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research 1999 – UF Genetics Institute established. established to honor Carr's decades of research.
