Reach Young People by Being EPIC

Reach Young People by Being ÉPIČ & In his book, The Gospel According to Starbucks, Dr. Leonard Sweet suggests that kids today are a part of an E.P.I.C. generation. Meaning they are Experiential, Participatory, Image-rich and Connected. This is who they are, and how they learn. Educators and youth leaders can reach this generation if they too become EPIC. XPERIENTIAL This generation learns from experience. They want a guide to education, not a lecturer. Instead of reading off a bunch of facts, teach them by using example scenarios. This is the way to pass on life lessons. ARTICIPATORY These kids have grown up participating in everything! They choose what they wear, what they eat for dinner and even who wins on American Idol. Therefore, allowing them to have a say in certain tasks or lessons gives them ownership and incentive to perform well. MAGE-RICH |Images are the language of the 21st Century. Your children have grown up with computer screens and camera phones. If you attach lessons to visuals, you can meet them where they are. Con onneстер Socially and technologically, this generation is always connected. During a lesson, stop talking and ask a student to answer a question or give an example of what you are talking about. Let them connect with what you want them to learn. WANT TO REACH YOUNG PEOPLE? Join us at the 2015 National Leadership Forum. The theme is Communicate Better.
