AMERICAN STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD Studying overseas has gradually increased in popularity over the past 10 years, as more institutions increase their support for students enrolling in subjects abroad. During the 2009/10 academic year, 270,604 U.S. students studied abroad for credit. This number was 4% more than the previous year, and almost double the number of students studying abroad from 2000/01. * WHO'S STUDYING ABROAD? * The most common profile of the student studying abroad is a white female in her junior year.
