Google Apps Data Loss Backupify randomly searched the Google Apps Help Forum for the first 100 high quality posts we could locate regarding Google Apps data loss and data unavailability. Those posts were then categorized based on reason for data loss, or type of data availability problem. Anecdotally there were a few cases of former employees or business partners hacking accounts after they left, but the majority of attacks appeared to be random and were probably caused by the user's choice of weak passwords. External App Errors accounted for 3% of all data loss according to our research. In these situations, some third-party application with automated access to a Google Apps account had corrupted or deleted some business data.
