Supported living

UR WHY WE NEED THE SOCIAL CARE WHITE PAPER United Re sponse making it happen Millions of disabled, older and unwell people rely on social care to provide a little bit of crucial support in their day to day lives. Due to great progress in health and social care, people are living increasingly longer and more active lives. This is a cause for celebration but does mean that more and more people need social care - and current funding simply cannot cope. The Coalition Government has pledged to reform social care and make it fit for the future. The long-promised Social Care White Paper was intended to be the first step towards that goal, but has been subjected to repeated delays. In June, The Independent suggested it could be delayed until later in the year. This is why it is needed urgently. 1. Most of the support provided by United Response is delivered via supported living – where people we support have their own tenancy, own their home or are living with family or friends.
