AA Why Won't My Car Start? If you rely on a car older than 10 years for your commutes, it's probably no surprise that it's forced you to run into some trouble every now and then. In fact, you've probably encountered several failures when getting it to start. But before you go ahead and take your car to an auto repair shop, you should probably try to do some troubleshooting first. More often than not, the situation isn't always as complicated as it seems. CAR 4 BATTERY Battery's Run Out of Juice Most of the time, your car probably won't start because its battery's dead. This is the most common problem that owners of old cars tend to face, especially if the vehicle hasn't been maintained and serviced regularly. In order to determine whether this is the real reason, you should fumble around for a battery tester and check out the amps on your car battery. But if you don't have one on you, you can always try jumpstarting your car with another car. If the jumpstart works, it's pretty much definite that your car battery was the problem all along. TIART Ignition Switch is Brcken Another common issue with cars that won't start is that their ignition switches have long lived their useful life. In other words, this means that they're probably faulty. If you suspect that your ignition switch may be the issue, simply maneuver your key to the on' position and see if the lights on your dashboard light up. If they don't light up, then you can safely assume your ignition switch has probably kicked the bucket. ime Steering is Locked If you can't even turn your key into the ignition, it's most probably thắt your steering's been looked. This usually happens when either one of the front wheels is pushed against something. In order to rectify this, try fiddling around with your steering wheel by shifting it to the left and right, while simultaneously turning the key into the ignition. This might help you to release the steering and ignition lock. Other Reasons To be completely frank, there's a whole lot going on under the hood of your car. If it isn't any one of the problems that are mentioned above, then itť's going to get really complicated. There are other possibilities such as faulty electrical connections, a clogged fuel filter, a broken coil wire, or even a loose starter bolt. There are too many possibilities for you to troubleshoot them one at a time. If your car doesn't start because of any of the reasons mentioned above, the best solution is to take your faulty car to a car repair shop; it'll save you a whole lot of time and trouble.
