Interviews: How to Follow Up

INTERVIEWS HOW TO FOLLOW UP 1. Say "thanks"... quickly Promptly following up and giving thanks for the opportunity to interview might not secure you the job, but if the employer is facing a tough decision between you and another applicant, a minor detail could be the difference. Show that you are courteous, a good communicator, and will be attentive to their potential clients and customers by following up straight away. 2. Give your feedback Interviews are a two-way street, so your interviewer will want to know whether you are keen to be considered for the role. Provide honest feedback, and confirm that following meeting with them and learning more, you are still interested in progressing your application. 3. Find out the next steps Ensure you are aware of any further stages to the process, and remember them. If the second stage is one week away, be prepared to wait - and don't miss out on a second interview because of a busy diary! 4. Speak to the right people If the process is being managed by a recruiter or a member of the HR team, remember to keep all your contact through that person. Contacting department managers or members of the interview panel might seem pro-active, but it may break confidentiality and could damage your application. ..and finally Done well, following up demonstrates that you are an eager and committed future employee. Done badly, you can present yourself as impatient, pressuring and even annoying! Think carefully about how and when you follow up in order to leave the best impression. in Posted by uk.linkedin.com/in/zachtpepper
