Harley completes a blueprint drawing for an engine that is designed to fit into a motorcycle. 1901 Bar & Shield logo used for the first time. 1910 1911 F-head engine becomes workhouse of Harley Davidson motorcycle until 1929. Enter into motorcycle racing. 1914 Nearly half of the motorcycles produced were sold for use by U.S. military in WW1. 1918 Hog association starts when the racing's team mascot, a pig is carried on a victory lap. 1920 Riders win8) National Championship races. 1922 Single cylinder motorcycles sold for the first time. 1926 Art deco eagle design painted on 1930 all gas tanks. They decided to go with this styling decision to stimulate low sale numbers brought on by the Great Depression. Introduces 45 cubic inch flathead racing motorcycle. 1946 Declared one of the best racing motorcycles ever built. 1952 Side-valve K model introduced. This model will evolve into the Sportster. This year marked a 7 year consecutive run of wins at Daytona 200. 1955 Begins to manufacture own components. 1962 Electra-Glide replaced Duo-Glide and is updated with electric starter. 1965 Introduces FX 1200 1970 Super Glide. 1973 Production gets an upgrade when assembly operations are moved to the York, PA plant. 1979 Introduces FXEF Fat Bob, "Fat" because of duel gas tanks. Introduces the Hertiage Softail. 1986 Product Development Center 1990 opens and is dedicated to Willie G. Davidson. Celebrate 90th anniversary in Milwaukee with a 1993 family reunion. 100,000 people rode in a parade on motorcycles. 1994 Enter Superbike racing with introduction of VR1000. Softail models have the Twin Cam 88B engine. 2000 Open Road Tour celebrates upcoming 100th 2002 anniversary of Harley-Davidson. New FXCWC Rocker introduces Harley-Davidson's first 2007 swingarm-mounted rear fender and 2 into q Trick seat.
