We surveyed more than 500 consumers across the country to determine just how committed people are to supporting local businesses. ALWAYS 7% -33% USUALLY NEVER 1% ABOUT HALF ONCE IN 21% A WHILE 36% THE TIME BUT ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS While almost three-fourths of those polled categorize themselves as small business advocates, their spending habits tell a different story. 55% are still making at least one purchase a day at chain stores. 52% are only spending $19 or less at local stores. $19 11 % are spending $0 at local stores daily. of local business supporters 18% don't shop at small businesses daily. Of the 82% of local business supporters who do frequent small businesses daily, only 20% are spending more than $30, leaving a minimal footprint on their community. AND LOCAL SUPPORTERS ACTUALLY SHOP AT BIG BUSINESSES MORE OFTEN 64% 75% Bob & BUY&SAVE Small-business backers shop 17% more often at big businesses. They are more likely to purchase 1-4 items a week from a chain store than a local shop.
