HIKING FOR EVERYONE (AND THEIR DOGS) IN BOULDER, COLORADO Boulder's got hundreds of miles of flat prairie, pristine forest and vertical mountain trails ready to be hiked. Choose from family fun, dog-friendly or seriously strenuous. There's a hike out there with your name on it. Where Level K Horse Friendly AO Bikes Allowed When Length Dog Friendly EASY TO MODERATE KID-AND DOG-FRIENDLY Goes right through Boulder, from Boulder Canyon on the west end to Stazio Ballfields on the east end, just past 55th Street BOULDER Up to 7.1 miles CREEK PATH Easy STAZIO BALLFIELDS This is a bike trail used by runners and walkers with lots of BOULDER places to stop. CANYON SOUTH SIDE OF THE CHAUTAUQUA AUDITORIUM AAA ENCHANTED MESA TRAIL On the south side of the Chautauqua Auditorium, near Chautauqua Park, at Grant Baseline Streets in Boulder Loop of 1.8 miles Easy (1.5 hrs) DRY CREEK TRAIL Elevation gain 437 ft Baseline Road, east of EAST OF BASELINE Baseline Reservoir and RESERVOIR west of 75th Street, in Boulder 1 mile Easy Goes through prairie and great for dogs ELDORADO SPRINGS DRIVE VISTA FLATIRONS Eldorado Springs Drive (0.3 mile south of Highway 128 on Highway 93) ORAW TRAIL 3.7 miles (3 hrs), with switchback at 1.8 miles Easy to Moderate FLATIRONS VISTA DIRTY BISMARK MARSHALL DRIVE Marshall Drive (start at the Marshall Mesa Trailhead, which is just east of the intersection of Highway 93 and Marshall Road) 14.8 miles Moderate round trip Elevation gain 630 ft; used by hikers, runners, dog walkers & bikers MODERATE TO SERIOUSLY STRENUOUS CHAUTAUQUA PARK FULL MESA TRAIL Connects Chautauqua Park with Eldorado Canyon Road. Start at north end (the Chautauqua Park Trailhead at Grant and Baseline Streets in Boulder), or at the south end (the South Mesa Trailhead at 1.7 miles west of Highway 93 on Eldorado Springs Drive - Highway 170). 7 miles Strenuous (2-3 hrs) Dogs and horses OK on most trails in this hike (there are signs) Elevation gain 800 ft ELDORADO CANYON ROAD KINNIKINNICK ROAD GREEN MOUNTAIN LOOP Kinnikinnick Road. White Trailhead: N40 03.560 W105 19.189 ANNE U. WHITE 3 miles TRAIL Easy round trip 500 ft gain ANNE U. WHITE TRAILHEAD GAPTOR ROADS NATURE BOBOLINK TRAIL FOR SENIORS ...... GVO 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Trailhead at Gaptor Rd., near Cherryvale the last Thursday of each month and Baseline Roads See calendar at BoulderCounty.org 1.2 miles round trip Easy Guided hike includes information about the area's history, wildlife and current resource management projects. MARSHALL ROAD GUIDED AND EVENT HIKES THEATRE-HIKES LITTLE RED & HER FEISTY FRIENDS This two-hour hike and show is designed for the whole family. The next production, scheduled for September and October 2015, is "Ten Ways to III 11 AM – 1 PM, Saturdays & Sundays through July 26 Chautauqua Park Survive the Zombie Ароcalypse." They meet twice each week: Fridays after work and Sunday mornings. Recent hikes include Flagstaff Trails (rated easy) and a 2.8 mile-hike on the south side of Lake Bierstadt, with an elevation gain of 566 ft. (rated easy to moderate). Recent meetups for this group: 23 members went on a moderate to strenuous Sunday morning hike along the Mount Sanitas trail; and 17 members (including kids) went on an easy hike at Lefthand Trailhead with naturalist Dave Sutherland to a prairie dog town just north of Boulder.
