BUSTERSGROUP Bed Bug Life Cycle Incomplete Metamorphosis hatches from an egg and grows bigger Adult Bed bugs are around 5-7mm in size. When they have fed they are brown with a flat oval body. When they have fed they expand slightly in size and the abdomen swells with blood, with a more balloon like shape. Occasionally they can produce a sweet musky smelling odour. Nymphs young bed bugs Smaller around 0-5mm in size. Translucent/ white in colour. Can be very difficult to see if they haven't fed. Eggs White in colour and the size of a pin head. The eggs will hatch in 6-10 days. 6/10 days 12 Adult bed bugs can live for around 12 months MONTHS and can live for over 10 months without feeding. Adult female bed bugs will lay 200-250 eggs in their lifetime. Favourite harbourages are around.. bed frames mattresses &3 any area close to the bed where the bug can squeeze behind i.e. in picture frames or headboards and the bugs will sit in these areas until the host (YOU) is ready for them to feed. Controlling bed bugs is very detailed work and not recommended for DIY treatments. Treatments include Insecticidal sprays and freezing articles of bedding and clothing.
