Guys I have to be fully honest: The vegan diet failed me.
In that it did not make me sh*t gold and sadly did not made my dick grew 3 inches larger.
Obviously I’m still vegan. I’ve been vegan for 5 years and currently are in the best shape of my life. Here’s me flexing my sixpack and here’s me doing a one arm pull up.
That's a cool before and after veganism am I right? Yep.
So yes, veganism IS sustainable. Yes, veganism does NOT cause mental illness and yes, veganism does NOT kill you.
Vegan diets are awesome with a lot of benefits! Plant based diets freaking rock!
BUT there are 3 REAL downsides of the vegan diet that you need to know before you start it. Are you ready? Let’s hit it.
1. Let’s talk about poop
After 2 weeks of a vegan diet my friend came up to me and proudly stated: “Buddy, my sh*t is so big I have trouble flushing.”
While we both laughed there’s some honest truth in that. See the majority of your sh*t is bacteria. And the more bacteria you have generally the healthier is your microbiome.
The downside here is that our western toilets aren’t really made for gigantic amount of sh*t. And if I increase my fiber intake to 50+, meaning eating a lot of freaking vegetables, my sh*ts become unbearable.
It still is a pleasure to sh*t, in fact higher fiber intake makes your sh*t run smoothly out of our b*tthole. BUT when you previously have never needed to sh*t and now need to do it 2 times a day with truckload of sh*t, it can be a difference.
Guess that’s the price we pay to be healthy. Sh*t.
2. Partner selection
Most people on this planet don’t want to deal with partners that excrete gigantic amount of sh*t.
On top of that you don’t want to deal with partners that don’t accept you the way you are. With all your truckload, of sh*t.
You also don’t want to have people that claim that you’re protein deficient or minimize your hummus intake.
You don’t need that negativity in your life.
I have a joke that I make when people ask me if I have a girlfriend. I respond with: “Yes, she’s vegan”. And slowly raise my right hand. Get it?
If you don’t get it you’re probably too young to watch this content. Sh*t.
In all seriousness, the more you develop yourself and the more off-the-beaten track you go, the harder it is to find a partner. While you will have more options, because a lot of people are intrigued by a person that is a risk taker and questions things, it will be harder to get intrigued by a person yourself.
Why? Because you go against the grain and against the majority. Likely you’re searching for a person that is doing the same.
And if that doesn’t work: *Eye contact + slowly raise right hand.*
3. Alienate people
Next to unloading gigantic amount of *wait* excrements, and spending a lot of your time with yourself – you’ll further alienate people by being different.
Let’s be real: People will think you’re crazy. But there’s a saying by Mark Twain that says whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it’s time to pause and reflect.
Conventional wisdom is almost always wrong. And a lot of people that change or changed the world have been considered crazy or minimize social contacts.
Take a look at people that change the world: Elon Musk is never seen in public. Steve Jobs was an absolute weirdo and a jerk. Gandhi was considered crazy by multiple people and so was Nelson Mandela.
Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.
Conclusion – The Vegan Diet Failed Me
The vegan diet failed me as it didn’t prepare me for gigantic amount of sh*t, partner selection and people alienation.
Realize that whichever decision you make in life, it will come with problems. A big house will provide comfort, but will have high maintenance cost and will take tons of your time. Children can make you feel fulfilled, but are the definition of maintenance for the first 20 years.
Look, a problem-free lifestyle is impossible, yet you have the freedom of choice. While you can not eliminate personal suffering, you can choose the things you would gladly suffer for.
Thank you for your time and thank you for your trust. I hope you have a great day. :-)
