Never drink and drive Reduce your speed Check vehicle 50% of accidents involve alcohol 45km/h and over 50% chance of surviving 30km/h 90% chance of surviving Wheels Steering Brakes Lights Half of road accidents are directly or indirectly caused by alcohol. Never drink alcohol and drive yourself. Make sure your friends don't do so either. Pedestrians have a 90% chance of surviving a car crash at 30km/h or below, but less than a 50% chance of surviving impacts or above. 45km/h Overtake only when it is safe Walk in designated areas only Wear a seatbelt 70% of all major crashes involved dangerous overtaking (often combined with jay walking pedestrians, high speeds and/or intoxicated drivers). Avoid walking in the road and only cross at designated places when it is safe. 30% of accidents resulting from human error involved jaywalking pedestrians in 2011. Seat belts dramatically increase your chance of surviving should you be unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident - always wear seat belts and make sure your friends do as well!
