Who Does All The Text Messaging

The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project asked 2,277 texters, 18 years and older, how often they send messages and make phone calls. Young adults send the most texts by far, but texting volumes have leveled off in 2011, showing simliar levels to that of 2010. TEXT MESSAGES SENT & CALLS RECEIVED PER DAY PER DAY Medians 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 10 EVERYONE 73 percent of adults with cell phones text, at least occassionally. Cell Owners Cell Owners GENDER Women text more than men, Men Men but men make more phone Women Women calls. AGE Young adults text the most by far, with a median of 40 texts per day. There are also heavy texters that bring the mean up to 88. 18-29 18-29 30-49 30-49 50-64 50-64 65+ 65+ RACE Black and Hispanic people White White text more and make more Black Black phone calls than whites.
