THIS WEEK IN TECH APRIL 12-18, 2014 Google acquired drone-maker Titan Aerospace to supplement an ongoing effort to bring Internet access to remote parts of the world. Linode has invested $45 million in improvements to its cloud services and infrastructure, including new SSD drives and increased RAM. Dropbox continued its recent acquisition spree by purchasing Loom, a photo storage service, and Hackpad, a document collaboration app. Seznam, a search engine and Web portal located in the Czech Republic, released a beta version of its 3D mapping service. Google announced that the first version of its modular smartphone, dubbed Project Ara, will be available in January 2015. Facebook announced a new feature on its mobile app that will signal users when they're close to someone who is in their network of friends. SMARTBEAR
