Working with card issuers across Europe, global analytics company, FICO, has seen imminent changes in the fraud landscape. This map shows how different countries’ defences against fraud, their adop... tion of powerful analytics and their use of EMV technology (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa’s technical standard for smart payments) have pushed criminals from one country to the next and from one form of attack to another. The red dots show areas that have had an increase in card fraud and the green dots represent areas that have had a decrease in card fraud. The biggest changes in the European fraud landscape over 2014 include: • Card fraud losses rose 6% across Europe in 2014, and in the UK • 70% of UK card fraud losses were due to card-not-present fraud • Cross-border fraud dominates in the UK • Shockingly, 47% of these fraudulent transactions took place in the US
