Oi, Historical Timeline of Hello A Conversational Interface The Turing test was developed by Alan Turing for determining the intelligence of 1950 computer programs. Eliza, a bot that could simulate a psychotherapist's conversation by using a script was published by MIT computer scientist Joseph Weizenbaum. 1966 Rollo Carpenter creates Jabberwacky chatbot – one of the earliest attempts to create an artificial intelligence via human-computer interaction. 1988 For naming the bot which is most human-like, an annual contest called 1990 Loebner Prize was launched. Thirfing Creative Labs develops an artificial 1992 intelligence speech synthesis program named Dr. Sbaitso for MS-DOS-based personal computers. A natural language processing bot that applied heuristic pattern matching rules to human input called A.L.I.C.E. (Artificial Linguistic Internet Computer Entity) was created. 1995 ALICE SmarterChild, a chatbot that was available on AOL Instant Messenger and Windows 2000 Live Messenger (previously MSN Messenger) networks was developed by ActiveBuddy. This bot was a precursor to Apple's Siri and Samsung's S Voice in SC many ways. Eugene Goostman chatbot, developed by three programmers, became the first 2001 chatbot to pass the Turing test on June 7, 2014 by convincing 33% of the event's judges that it was human. 2005 Steve Worswick develops Mitsuku which later won the Loebner prize twice for being the most human-like bot. Siri, a voice activated intelligent assistant 2011 was launched by Apple as part of their iOS and MacOS platforms. 2012 Google develops chatbot for Google search mobile app named as Google Now. Amazon launches Alexa, an intelligent 2014 personal assistant via the Amazon Echo. Microsoft launches Cortana, a virtual assistant named after the fictional character from "Halo." 2015 Facebook launches a hybrid bot-and-human virtual assistant called M which is accessible through Messenger. Alexa enters 5% of Amazon 2016 customers' homes Google unveils its answer to Amazon Echo called Google Home Apple introduces Sirikit. Facebook, Google, and Microsoft make major announcements about bot platforms at their annual conferences. 2017 Google Lens, the Al augmented reality feature that uses machine learning to turn your camera into a search box, is introduced. Google Google Assistant expands beyond Android to ioS and is available now for download on the iTunes Stores for iPhones. Google Home gets smarter!
