Numerous studies have outlined the benefits of allowing employees to work remotely, including increased employee happiness, a reduced attrition rate, increased productivity, and more. While remote workers can be found in a variety of industries they are often most prevalent in technology, due to the nature of their job duties (these jobs require a strong attention to detail and long hours of focus without distractions and interruptions). Hiring remote tech employees such as developers and engineers means that you can get the absolute best person for the job – not just one who is willing to live in your city. Below are a few stats from Stack Overflow's 2015 Developer Survey. And you may be eliminating the most qualified developers from consideration. 10.8% Not important 11% of developers said that when evaluating a new employment opportunity, remote working options was in their top 3 list of things that matter most. 20% of developers are not likely to take a job if you don't do remote. Females are 20% more likely to consider ability to work remotely when considering a job. Stack Overflow users with 5,000+ rep are twice more likely than other developers to say "remote optional" is non-negotiable. 5,000+ Rep.
