Responding to this great interactive infographic that’s been going around, I tried out a quick version comparing a few statistics for evaluating the effectiveness of a batter. While to original note... s the Yankees as a team paying high for less results, I do also notice a general trend in any stat for higher stats per higher salary past the rookie levels. As with any statistic, there’s always so many stories to tell and different conclusions. All the team stats note the Astros as being the most cost-effective per results and the Yankees or Dodgers as the most expensive. On the other hand, recalling a previous cost of living infographic, Houston is a far less expensive city than New York or Los Angeles. Recent seasons also see many injuries for the Yankees. Perhaps another story is cost per Pennant or World Series, but that’s for another day.
