4 Popular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Chokes

4 Popular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Chokes Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a popular martial art and combat sport which originated in Brazil in the early 20th century. Some of the choke-holds used by Bjj players are also used by samba players and catch wrestlers. Ĺ ome of the most popular chokes used in this wonderful sport are: Rear Naked Choke The Rear Naked Choke is the single most important submission in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This is the definitive way to end a fight, and should be your primary threat anytime you have the rear mount. Triangle Choke The Triangle Choke is a very common submission in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu which originated from Judo. It is one of the most common BJJ submissions from the guard, but you can also set it up from other positions. Kimura Armlock The Kimura is a powerful bent armlock that forces your opponent's arm behind his back stressing the shoulder and elbow joint. It is most often applied from the guard and sidemount. Heel Hook The Heel Hook is considered extremely effective in BJJ. But in most of the prestigious BJJ tournaments, this move is considered illegitimate as it is unfair on the opponents. This move involves rotational leglock which doesn't offer enough time for the opponent to react and prevent the damage in the heat of the battle.
