H.R.3074 IRS ABUSE PROTECTION ACT The IRS violated the First Amendment rights of the American people – and their trust – when it targeted conservative political groups around the country for additionål scrutiny during the 2012 election. The IRS targeted: 292 6 compared to only TEA PARTY Confirmed by the U.S. Treasury Department Inspector General for Tax Administration TEA PARTYCONSERVATIVE GROUPS LIBERAL GROUPS RESTORING THE BALANCE Would require the federal government to inform taxpayers when the IRS accesses theirinformation. The secretary of the U.S. Treasury would have to notify, in writing, taxpayers each time the IRS aćcesses their tax accounts, tax returns of other tax return information. HOW IT WORKS The notice will require the following: (A) Who accessed such account, return, or return information. (B) The purpose for which such account, return, or return information was accessed.
